The Community Guide
The Community Guide is a free CDC resource, developed to help users choose programs and policies that have been systematically reviewed and labeled with a level of effectiveness. NNPHI promotes the use of the Community Guide in various ways, including:
- Supporting public health institute (PHI) use of the Community Guide to address the indicators in the County Health Rankings through partnership and technical assistance with local health departments, community groups, and other stakeholders
- Coordinating, convening, and providing technical assistance to multiple state teams, comprised of PHIs and health department leaders, as well as other partners, to implement a recommendation from the Community Guide and encourage a culture of evidence-based public health practice (a project with the Association of State and Territorial Health Officials (ASTHO))
- Partnering with national partners to strengthen the knowledge and use of the Community Guide nationally among public health practitioners. Partnership members include: ASTHO; the Association of Maternal and Child Health Programs (AMCHP); the National Association of Local Boards of Health (NALBOH); the Public Health Foundation (PHF); and the National Association of City and County Health Officials (NACCHO).
