The Inaugural National Health Impact Assessment Meeting planning committee is seeking abstracts for Poster Sessions, Oral Presentations, Breakfast Round Table Topics, Working Group Topics or Full Session Topics at the meeting. You may submit abstracts for any of the above presentation formats. Abstracts are now due by no later than 11:59 pm ET on Sunday, January 22, 2012. Submitters/presenters will be notified of the selected abstracts by early February, 2012.
As part of its work with the Healthy Farms, Healthy People Coalition, NNPHI will provide selected nonprofit organizations with awards of up to $7,500 to conduct a state meeting in 2012 focusing on opportunities for improving health through the intersection between agriculture and health. This award will be coupled with limited technical assistance and participation in a learning community of other organizations hosting similar meetings.
Two-page applications are due by February 13, 2012 at 5:00 PM ET.

Presented by the Network for Public Health Law, the Public Health Law Webinar Series is a free, open monthly series focused on providing the public health community with practical knowledge on emerging topics. The series' next webinar, Learning about Health Impact Assessments, is scheduled for Thursday, February 16.
The webinar will provide a basic overview of how Health Impact Assessments (HIAs) give decision-makers the information they need to advance smarter policies to help build safe, healthy, thriving communities; examine the development of an innovative HIA tool; and explore the legal authority authorizing, supporting, or prohibiting HIAs.
The National Public Health Performance Standards (NPHPSP) is a national partnership initiative that has developed National Public Health Performance Standards for state and local public health systems and public health governing bodies to assess and improve public health systems.
The NPHPSP webinar series features live bi-monthly webinars around public health accreditation, quality improvement (QI), and performance management. The webinar topic for Tuesday, February 21 is Building a Culture of QI in Your Health Department: A Roadmap to Quality.

Background Information/Seeking: The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation seeks to expand the evidence base for effective public health policy and practice through investment in Public Health Services and Systems Research (PHSSR). NNPHI is the administrative support office for PHSSR. This solicitation seeks to expand the evidence base for effective decision-making in public health practice and policy through research that utilizes natural experiments to respond to the questions defined in the National Agenda for PHSSR. Background Information/Seeking: NNPHI and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) are collaborating to increase the use of evidence-based HIV, STD, and Teen Pregnancy prevention activities among American Indian and Alaska Native (AI/AN) youth between the ages of 12-16 years. Up to eight AI/AN youth serving organizations throughout the nation will be selected to participate in the 12-month program. Participating organizations will receive a $40,000 financial award, as well as professional development training and technical assistance for key staff that will work to increase the application and implementation of evidence-based HIV, STD, and Teen Pregnancy prevention education interventions in their community.
