NNPHI currently has 37 members in 28 states plus Washington, DC. Members are organizations that align with NNPHI’s mission and the definition of a public health institute (PHI): an organization that improves public health capacity, systems and outcomes by fostering innovation, leveraging resources, and building partnerships to improve the public's health.
PHIs improve public health outcomes by fostering innovation, leveraging resources, and building partnerships with governmental agencies, communities, the health care delivery system, media, and academia. PHIs address current and emerging health issues by providing expertise in areas such as fiscal/administrative management; population-based health program delivery; health policy development, implementation, and evaluation; training and technical assistance; research and evaluation; health information services; health communications and social marketing; and convening/partnering. While this list of competencies is not exhaustive, all PHIs demonstrate work in at least two competency areas.
Listings of PHIs' competencies and health issue expertise are not exhaustive. Please visit individual PHI websites for a complete listing of their areas of expertise.
