Annual Educational Conference
This two-day conference attracts leaders from federal agencies, nonprofit organizations, foundations, and academia. Current issues are discussed in formal sessions, round-table discussions, committee meetings and social events. NNPHI policies and resolutions are considered and voted on at the annual conference and/or at quarterly board meeting teleconferences.
Educational Teleconferences
NNPHI facilitates approximately four educational teleconferences per year for its members. Past topics have included “Top Ten Mistakes of Public Health Institutes”, “Resource Development for Public Health Institutes”, “Authorizing Legislation for Public Health Institutes”, “Advocacy and Lobbying”, “Indirect Rates for Public Health Institutes”, and “State Health Report Cards / Community Health Report Cards.” Speakers include senior staff from the NNPHI member organizations as well as outside experts.
NNPHI Newsletter
National Network of Public Health Institutes Bi-Monthly News is published to bring members the latest news on federal, state and local events, emerging public health issues, trends in public health practice, training announcements, and funding opportunities.
NNPHI Committees
Standing and ad hoc committees deal with varied interests of the membership. Members are invited to participate fully in such research and deliberation by joining the committees of their choice.
NNPHI Website
NNPHI’s website serves as a resource for both its members and the public. The site features links to NNPHI members across the country, a searchable programs database, and reports and publications of NNPHI. In addition, NNPHI’s password-protected File Library provides model policies and procedures, legislation, job descriptions, and other items for members. NNPHI’s Forums allow members to discuss areas of interest.
NNPHI’s Outreach
NNPHI is comprised of 29 members and affiliates that span across the United States. In addition, NNPHI works with numerous emerging public health institutes across the country through its Fostering Emerging Institutes Project. Through regular communication with its membership, NNPHI engages in a breadth of issues in public health practice. NNPHI staff also works with federal agencies and other public health practice associations (e.g., CDC, ASTHO, NACCHO, the Council on Linkages) to promote cooperation and coordination among issues of mutual concern.
NNPHI Publications
NNPHI publishes a member directory, information circulars, and topical reports that are available to members free of charge (or at minimal cost).
NNPHI’s Sphere of Influence
NNPHI speaks on behalf of, and in full consideration with, its membership. NNPHI Staff and Committee Members meet with the leadership of partner organizations both formally and informally.
