Policy Analyst

Topeka, KS

The Kansas Health Institute (KHI) has immediate openings for both a senior and a junior policy analyst. Responsibilities include identifying and analyzing health issues pertinent to the state of Kansas, conducting literature reviews, producing and reviewing relevant qualitative and quantitative information, and translating the findings into concise, well-organized reports suitable for a policy audience. KHI sponsors health policy forums to discuss important health issues; the successful candidates will assist in planning and conducting these meetings. Analysts are expected to develop collaborative relationships with state agency staff, members of the Legislature, faculty and staff of state universities, public health and medical professionals, and private health associations.

Candidates for the senior analyst position should have a master’s degree with at least 10 years of relevant experience, or a doctoral degree in public policy, public health, business, public administration, sociology, economics or a related field. Candidates for the junior analyst position should have a master’s degree, or a bachelor’s degree with at least 5 years of relevant experience. Candidates with experience in public policy, preferably health related, as well as an understanding of public health and health care delivery systems are preferred. Strong writing and verbal communication skills are essential. Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. KHI is an independent, non-profit health policy and research organization based in Topeka, Kansas, established in 1995 with a multi-year grant from the Kansas Health Foundation.
